The founder of the Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Public Interest is set to be heard by a government panel examining the suspension of his X account, amid concerns over digital rights and platform regulations.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke is scheduled to appear before a review panel of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) over the withholding of the organisation’s X (formerly Twitter) account, according to reports.

The ministry had reportedly directed Dipke to appear in person at its headquarters on Wednesday for a hearing related to the suspension of the CJP’s account. Taking to his personal X handle, Dipke confirmed his appearance, stating that he would attend the review committee hearing at 3 PM regarding the account action.

Dipke is also currently leading a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar, where the group has been stationed for several days. The demonstration, now in its fifth day, is reportedly focused on demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over allegations linked to examination irregularities and the NEET paper leak controversy.

The CJP gained public attention shortly after its launch on May 16, amid widespread online debate. The group’s emergence followed controversial remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, which were interpreted by some as a comparison between unemployed youth and “cockroaches.” The interpretation sparked significant discussion on social media and contributed to the visibility of the digital outfit.

Amid ongoing scrutiny, the suspension of the CJP’s X account has become part of a broader conversation around content moderation, platform governance, and regulatory oversight of social media accounts in India.

At present, neither MeitY nor X has issued a detailed public statement outlining the specific grounds for the account withholding. The matter is expected to be examined by the review committee as part of the formal hearing process.
