Boy, 4, killed after speeding car runs him over in Mumbai, teen driver arrested

A four-year-old boy died after being hit by a speeding car driven by a 19-year-old in Mumbai's Wadala area near Ambedkar College, police reported.

A four-year-old boy died after being hit by a speeding car driven by a 19-year-old in Mumbai’s Wadala area near Ambedkar College, police reported. The victim, identified as Ayush Laxman Kinwade, lived with his family on the pavement. His father worked as a labourer.

The accused, Bhushan Sandeep Gole, was driving a Hyundai Creta when he hit the boy. He is a resident of Vile Parle. Authorities are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, with medical reports awaited.

Additionally, police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the driver's activities and whereabouts prior to the accident.

Around 5 pm, while playing near their makeshift home, a speeding car lost control and hit the boy. The collision was so severe that Ayush died instantly.

A police team quickly arrived at the scene and sent the child’s body for post-mortem at KEM Hospital.

The police have arrested the driver for reckless driving.

Authorities have started questioning the driver to determine the cause of the accident.
