Blast in car near Delhi's Red Fort; one dead, several injured

The Delhi Fire Department received the call around 6:55 pm and deployed seven fire tenders along with 15 CAT ambulances. Forensic and police teams are investigating the cause of the explosion, and the area remains cordoned off.

An explosion was reported in a car near Gate No. 1 of Delhi’s Red Fort (Lal Qila) Metro Station on Monday evening, triggering panic in the high-security area. Following the blast, three other vehicles also caught fire, officials said.

According to the Delhi Fire Department, they received a call about the explosion at around 6:55 pm, after which seven fire tenders and 15 CAT ambulances were rushed to the spot. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after a short operation.

Preliminary reports suggest that some people sustained injuries in the incident. The exact cause of the blast is yet to be determined.

Forensic teams are examining the scene, while police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to rule out foul play.
