In a major military action codenamed Operation Sindoor, India launched a decisive strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strike was two-pronged, involving the Air Force in the skies and the Army on the ground, according to top government sources.

While the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out air-to-surface missile attacks, the Indian Army simultaneously launched surface-to-surface missiles, sources told.

The precision strikes reportedly targeted terror infrastructures linked to banned outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. More than 80 terrorists were killed in the overnight operation.

This multipronged attack was a warning to Pakistan to stop supporting terror machinery, crippling Pakistan’s terror machinery, sources said. The objective, officials said, was to send a clear message to Islamabad to stop supporting terrorist activities against India.

Government sources added that New Delhi secured diplomatic backing from key global powers before the attacks were launched. India received open support from the US, UK, France, and Russia, sources said, adding that while China’s response was described as neutral, the Gulf nations were seen aligning with India, leaving Pakistan largely isolated on the diplomatic front.

Apart from Turkey, no country openly backed Islamabad, sources said, calling it a significant diplomatic win for India.

Following the strikes, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called the action a “blatant act of war” and claimed civilian casualties. Pakistan has also threatened a response at a “time and place of its choosing”.

India, however, has made it clear that it does not seek escalation. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval said India is prepared to respond strongly if Pakistan retaliates.
