India has carried out precision air-to-surface missile strikes against terrorist bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, hitting sites in Muridke, Kotli, Muzaffarabad, and Bahawalpur. Sources report that these operations, which did not breach Pakistani airspace, formed part of “Operation Sindoor,” launched by the Indian Army to dismantle terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan and PoK.
Officials confirm that nine locations were targeted in total, all selected with “focused, measured, and non-escalatory” intent. No Pakistani military installations were involved, and authorities stress that “considerable restraint” was exercised in both target selection and execution.
Moments after the raids, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Indian Army posted, “Justice is served. Jai Hind!” alongside an image announcing “Operation Sindoor”. The post underscored the intent to hold those responsible for the recent Pahalgam attack to account.

Evacuation drills were conducted by four private schools in Kolkata on Wednesday to assess the preparedness among students in case of an exigency on the backdrop of the tensions between India and Pakistan.
The drills were conducted at DPS-Ruby Park, La Martiniere for Boys, La Martiniere for Girls and Future Foundation School.
A spokesperson for the two La Martiniere schools said the drills were conducted by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) wings based on instructions from the government.
Students went through the process of evacuating their classroom after an alarm was sounded, assembling in the courtyard, and taking shelter. They returned to their classrooms once the all-clear signal was given, he said.
"The entire exercise took place within 30 minutes, to make students well-versed about procedures required in case of an emergency. Students were very enthusiastic and eager to participate in the exercise," he added.
Former Puducherry Lieutenant Governor and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi applauded the India Armed Forces on successful execution of the Operation Sindoor, and said the initiative taken was an "action" and not a reaction.

India briefed the envoys of both permanent and non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - excluding Pakistan-on the details and objectives of Operation Sindoor, its recent counter-terror offensive. Representatives from the P5 nations (the US, UK, France, Russia, and China), along with nine of the ten non-permanent members-Algeria, Denmark, Greece, Guyana, Panama, Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, and Somalia-were apprised of India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Former Pakistani minister Bilawal Bhutto, while responding to Operation Sindoor, said, "Over the past two weeks, Pakistan has been on the receiving end of belligerent threats by the Indian government. We’ve time and time again insisted that our hands are clean and offered an impartial inquiry into any and all accusations. Unfortunately, India rebuffed those offers by Pakistan and has chosen instead to target innocent civilians. Pakistan reserves the right, under the UN charter, to respond."
