Two schools and a college in Delhi's Dwarka received bomb threats via email on Monday morning. Delhi Public School was one of the schools that got the threat.
The fire department received information about bomb threats at 7.24 am. After this, multiple teams from the Delhi Police, bomb disposal squad and dog squad rushed to the sites.
The authorities of DPS Dwarka quickly evacuated the premises as a precaution, news agency PTI reported, citing officials of Delhi Fire Service.
According to sources, nothing has been found in the investigation so far.
"Search operation is underway," PTI reported, citing a senior fire official.
Last month, several schools in the national capital along with Bengaluru received bomb threats on a single day. As many as 40 private schools in Bengaluru and 45 in Delhi received threats on July 18. The email to Bengaluru schools mentioned "you all deserve to suffer". However, many turned out to be hoaxes afterwards.
Making false bomb threats bear severe legal consequences. Under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), enacted in 2024, the accused can face up to five years imprisonment and/or fine under multiple sections.
In cases when threats are issued by minor students, police prioritise counselling and warnings to stop future offences. However, if the matter is considered to be serious, proceedings may be initiated under the Juvenile Justice Act. In some instances, community service may also be mandated.
