Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has accused the Biden administration of pressuring his company to take down posts related to the side effects of COVID-19 vaccines in the United States.

Zuckerberg, who appeared on a Podcast show “The Joe Rogan Experience", alleged that the White House staff wanted him to censor content they considered objectionable on the social media platform, including a meme featuring Titanic actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

According to the meme, people might have to receive compensation for COVID-19 vaccine-related side effects years later. The Meta CEO called it a political joke and termed it as “harmless humour".

While mentioning that Zuckerberg himself is “pro-vaccine", he said that the White House staff “push hard" to take down critical posts on the vaccine.

“This really hit the most extreme during the Biden administration when they were trying to roll out the vaccine programme. I’m personally pro-vaccine as it has more positive than negative. But I think that while they were trying to push that programme, they were also trying to censor anyone who is basically arguing it," he said.

“And they pushed us super hard to take down things that were honestly true. They said that anything that says that vaccines have side effects, you need to take down. I was like we are not gonna do that," the Meta CEO added.

He termed such demands “ridiculous" and said that he would not take them down.
