New Delhi and Ottawa are locked in a diplomatic tussle, and India-Canada ties have hit a new low under the Justin Trudeau government in Canada. A survey found that 39% of Canadians believed that the Trudeau administration wasn't managing the ties well. Not just that. The poll also found that 39% of Canadians believed that ties wouldn't improve till Trudeau was the Prime Minister.

The survey by the Angus Reid Institute (ARI) and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada revealed a lack of consensus as to who was responsible for Indo-Canadian ties hitting a low. However, more people laid the blame on the Canadian government.

According to the survey, 39% of Canadians believe that Canada isn’t managing the ties well, while 32% had the opposite view, and 29% of the respondents said they weren't sure.

Do Canadians feel that ties are going to improve anytime soon?

Of those surveyed, 39% believed ties wouldn't improve till Trudeau was in office, while 34% thought the same of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Canada is going to hold a parliamentary election in 2025, and the Opposition Conservative Party is a favourite of winning the election. If the Conservatives win, Pierre Poilievre will be the Canadian Prime Minister, giving a chance for bilateral ties to be reset.
