Australia’s new Deputy High Commissioner to India makes desi entry in an auto

Nicholas McCaffrey has taken on the role of Australia's Deputy High Commissioner to India with a unique and vibrant start. Embracing the local culture, he shared a video of himself driving an auto-rickshaw adorned with the Indian Tricolour, symbolising a blend of diplomatic engagement and cultural respect.

As he begins his journey in India, McCaffrey expressed his excitement and enthusiasm for his new position. With a traditional ‘Namaste’, he said, "I am thrilled to be starting my posting as Deputy High Commissioner working with our excellent High Commissioner Philip Green.” His warm approach and use of the Hindi language, starting his message with "Namaste India," reflects his eagerness to connect with the people and the culture of the country he will be serving in.

McCaffrey steps into the shoes of Sarah Storey, ready to build upon the work she has done. He looks forward to collaborating with the team at the Australian High Commission in India, stating, “Terrific to start as Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner in India, replacing the irrepressible Sarah Storey. Look forward to working with #TeamAustralia in India, under the leadership of @AusHCIndia Philip Green."

Meanwhile, the Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, has been actively engaging with the diverse Indian landscape, sharing his experiences from visits to cities like Varanasi, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad.

McCaffrey's arrival and the ongoing efforts of High Commissioner Green highlight the commitment of Australia to strengthen its relationship with India.
