Not only just Joshimath, several other cities in Uttarakhand on the brink of sinking

Joshimath may be grabbing headlines, but it's important to throw light on other cities in Uttarakhand, that has been on the brink of sinking, as they have started witnessing cracks. 

Areas including Uttarkashi, Tehri, Pauri and Karanprayag, with the causes being the same as in Joshimath, geology, weather, unplanned development, and large infrastructure projects.

As per news agency TOI, a section of the road in Queen of hills Mussoorie's Landour market is sinking and has developed cracks which are gradually widening. Residents reported that the buildings on the roadside are cracking and sinking, posing a grave threat to the residents and shopkeepers living nearby.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is closely monitoring the situation and so far 82 families have been shifted to safe locations in the town while the number of subsidence-affected homes rose to 678.
