German model and influencer Virat Kohli has once again found himself at the centre of online discussion after influencer LizLaz (Lizzalazz) claimed that some journalists allegedly offered her money to make negative statements about the Indian cricket star.
The controversy began after social media users noticed that Kohli’s Instagram account had apparently liked one of LizLaz’s posts, triggering widespread speculation online. Neither Kohli nor his team publicly commented on the viral discussion at the time.
In an interview with FilmyMantra, LizLaz alleged that she was approached by journalists following the controversy.
“Some journalists even offered me money to say bad things about him (Virat Kohli) and make allegations about things he never did. But why would I do that?”
She further stated that she had no intention of harming Kohli’s reputation for “money or publicity” and described him as her “favourite cricketer.”
According to details shared during her interviews and social media interactions, LizLaz was born in South Africa to a German mother and a South African father. She has said she speaks multiple languages, including German, Afrikaans, Dutch, French and Russian, and holds an MSc degree in Psychology.
Apart from modelling and singing, LizLaz has also spoken publicly about her interests in travel, songwriting and food vlogging.
Following the Instagram controversy, several users online pointed out that LizLaz is a fan of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the IPL franchise represented by Kohli.
In an earlier interaction with FilmyMantra, she had said:
“When I was very young, we lived at a beach close to Cape Town. I love supporting my local team. Bangalore feels like the most homely place for me in India.”
She also stated that although she became interested in cricket only after visiting India, Kohli eventually became her favourite player.
As of now, there has been no official response from Kohli or his representatives regarding LizLaz’s latest claims.
