Reports that the makers of the Tamil film Chandramukhi filed a lawsuit against the producers of Nayanthara's Netflix documentary for allegedly using clips from their film without permission have been debunked. A 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from Sivaji Productions, permitting the use of footage from Chandramukhi in Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale, is now widely circulating on social media.

Film trade expert Ramesh Bala shared the NOC on his X account. The certificate stated, "This is to certify that Sivaji Productions has no objection to the use of the following footage in the Netflix documentary 'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale'."

The NOC further clarified, "We confirm that Rowdy Pictures has been granted permission to use, reproduce, distribute, and/or sub-license the aforementioned video footage exclusively for use in the Netflix series titled 'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale'. We further declare that we shall hold Rowdy Pictures (along with affiliates, licensees/sub-licensees, and assigns) harmless from any claims and/or disputes arising out of the use of the video footage as authorised under the certificate/letter."

Nayanthara and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, own the production company Rowdy Pictures. Contrary to claims that the producers of the 2005 film Chandramukhi, starring Rajinikanth, demanded Rs 5 crore from Nayanthara to grant permission for the use of clips, the NOC confirms that no money was charged.

Earlier, actor Dhanush sent a legal notice to Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan regarding the use of certain clips from his film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the same documentary.

Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale is currently streaming on Netflix.
