Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has officially kick-started the next chapter of one of Bollywood’s most beloved comedy franchises. On his birthday, the director shared an exciting video announcing the start of filming for Golmaal 5, sending fans of the long-running series into a frenzy.Headlined by Ajay Devgn, the Golmaal franchise has been entertaining audiences for nearly two decades with its signature slapstick humour, quirky characters and chaotic comedy. With the fifth instalment now officially in production, anticipation among fans has reached new heights.
Rohit Shetty Announces Shoot With Fun Video
In the video shared by Rohit Shetty, viewers get a playful glimpse of the Golmaal gang reuniting on set. The clip features the franchise’s familiar faces including Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, and Tusshar Kapoor alongside Ajay Devgn.
In the video, Arshad Warsi laughs and says, “Ajay 20 saal hogaye humko ye karte karte.”
Shreyas Talpade jokingly adds, “Ek aur banani chahiye.”
Ajay Devgn then turns toward Rohit Shetty, who is standing behind the camera, and asks, “Kya bolta hai Rohit? Kare kya?”
To which Rohit replies, “Chalo fir banate hai ek aur.”
The entire gang erupts in cheers. Ajay Devgn then hints at a twist, saying, “Magar iss baar surprise hai.”
Surprise Cameos Take Fans By Storm
Just as the excitement builds, Sharman Joshi, who was part of the original Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, suddenly walks into the frame.
Reacting in disbelief, Kunal Kemmu exclaims, “Abey tu?”
Sharman Joshi begins to say, “Subha ka bhoola shaam ko laut aaye toh usse kehte hai…” but Kunal interrupts him mid-sentence asking, “Aree par tu waapis kyu aaya?”
Tusshar Kapoor also questions him in his signature Golmaal style, and the gang humorously drags Sharman Joshi out of the frame. Ajay Devgn, still standing there, looks at them and says, “Aree lekin surprise toh…”
Moments later, the real surprise is revealed as Akshay Kumar enters the set in a striking bald look, dressed in a black kurta and sunglasses. Sitting beside Ajay Devgn, he plants a playful kiss on his cheek and shouts, “Music!”
The iconic Golmaal theme music then begins playing as the cast celebrates the start of the new film.
Ajay Devgn jokingly remarks, “Koi bhi franchise nahi chhodta hai.” Akshay Kumar then hugs Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn before posing with the rest of the Golmaal 5 team.
Rohit Shetty Responds To Rumours About The Film
As excitement surrounding the project grows, social media has been buzzing with speculation that Golmaal 5 might be inspired by the classic film Do Aur Do Paanch, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor.
However, Rohit Shetty has firmly dismissed these rumours.
In an official statement, the director’s team clarified that the reports are “factually incorrect.”
“We wish to issue a strict clarification regarding certain news reports currently circulating across online and digital media platforms claiming that Golmaal 5 is inspired by or based on the film,” the statement read.
“We categorically state that these reports are factually incorrect, misleading and completely untrue. We strongly request all media houses, publications, portals, and digital platforms to refrain from publishing or circulating unverified information.”
The statement also warned that any news or updates regarding Rohit Shetty or Golmaal 5 must be verified with the official team before publication, adding that legal action could be taken against misleading reports.

The Golmaal franchise has remained one of the most successful comedy series in Indian cinema. It began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006, which starred Ajay Devgn, Sharman Joshi, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Rimi Sen.
