Patna: The auditorium of St. Xavier’s High School, Patna, turned into a vibrant hub of energy, curiosity, and imagination yesterday as Jaano Junction hosted its flagship Citizen Townhall on the theme “Unlock You: Exploring Careers in Journalism, Media & the Creative Industry.”
Among many thought-provoking conversations and engaging sessions, one amazing highlight of the day came in the form of a small session on “Understanding Creativity at its basic.” Conducted by Jaano Junction’s Executive Producer, Apoorw Raj Pandey, this interactive segment became a turning point for more than 250 students, transforming the atmosphere from quiet formality to spirited expression.
Blending music, interactive activities, and play-driven exercises, Apoorw didn’t just deliver a workshop—he ignited a movement. What began with hesitant faces soon evolved into an auditorium alive with laughter, participation, and bold ideas.
A Visible Transformation
In an exclusive reflection, Apoorw shared the impact of the session:
“I could see a visible transformation in students. The most remarkable part of the session was witnessing the shift in student engagement. Within minutes:
* Students who were earlier passive listeners turned into active participants.
* Creativity began flowing through spontaneous responses, fresh perspectives, and innovative storytelling.
* Shy individuals found their voice, while the more expressive ones learned to listen and collaborate.
* The auditorium, once structured by formality, became a space of openness and authentic exchange.
This collective transformation stood as proof that when given the right environment, young minds don’t just learn—they flourish.”
The Power of Escaping Patterned Thinking
Apoorw underlined the urgent need to break away from repetitive thought cycles that limit imagination.
“The power of escaping pattern thinking is the real power. We live in times where patterned thinking often limits imagination. To create, innovate, and invent, it is essential to break free from repetitive thought cycles. This session highlighted the truth that:
* Innovation begins where repetition ends.
* New ideas demand courage to challenge the familiar.
* Creativity is not a gift—it’s a practice that grows when nurtured.”
How Schools Can Nurture Creativity
According to Apoorw, creativity in education cannot be treated as an afterthought. It must be embedded within classrooms and learning practices.
“For education to truly empower, it must create space for imagination alongside academics. Some ways schools can support this are:
Encouraging cross-disciplinary learning that allows students to connect arts, science, and media.
Designing classrooms where questions matter more than answers.
Creating safe spaces for students to express, experiment, and even fail.
Promoting collaborative projects that combine creativity with problem-solving.
Recognising and celebrating unique talents beyond conventional achievements.
When schools unlock creativity, they are not just educating students—they are shaping future innovators, leaders, and storytellers.”
A Note of Gratitude
“As I reflect on this experience, I feel deeply grateful to St. Xavier’s High School, Patna, and its Principal for recognising the importance of creativity in education and for appreciating my efforts in guiding the students through this journey. Their warmth and encouragement made this session truly fulfilling.
Above all, I am thankful to the students, who embraced the challenge with open hearts and curious minds. The joy of seeing them unlock their voices and ideas is an experience I will carry forward with immense pride.
This Jaano Junction Citizen Townhall was not just an event—it was a reminder of how powerful it is to give young people the freedom to imagine, express, and create. And for me, being part of this transformation was nothing less than an honor.”
Beyond an Event: A Movement
In a world where structured learning often overshadows free expression, the Citizen Townhall at St. Xavier’s stood out as a powerful reminder: when young people are given the freedom to think beyond the ordinary, they don’t just participate—they lead.
What Apoorw ignited in Patna’s young minds is more than just a momentary spark; it is a call to schools everywhere to recognise creativity as the heartbeat of education and the foundation of future innovation.
