The tariff war is still not over. The drama over India buying crude oil from Russia became a trademark for the White House and its president, Donald Trump. Adding his name to every peace move and taking credit is still not over for the world, and he is back again with new things.

Questioning every country's trade partner—or just India? When India’s External Affairs Ministry confronted US President Donald Trump with facts and figures—pointing out that even the US continues trading with Russia, using its own taxpayers’ money—Trump’s hypocrisy was laid bare. Does the US think that Russia will not buy weapons with their money but from India’s money?

When the US President was questioned about India’s statement on trade between the US and Russia, he said,
“I don’t know anything about it. I’d have to check, but we’ll get back to you on that.”

Does US President Donald Trump believe that they are “doing charity” by making trade relationships with Russia? As he denied before that they are making any trade with Russia. But according to facts and figures, U.S. imports from Russia are about US $2.5 billion in the first half of 2025, as per U.S. Census Bureau and Bureau of Economic Analysis data. In Indian rupees, it’s ₹21,932 crore.

Maybe questioning Indian trade with Russia is a new tactic of the US President—to make America great again—now by even choosing trade partners for other countries, and asking for a nomination for the Nobel Prize.

America has always supported Pakistan, even in their worst phases—even Donald Trump himself. Does the US and its president think that Pakistan is promoting peace with India and not funding terrorism? Is this the reason behind Trump supporting and inviting Pakistan to the White House for lunch?

The double face of America is exposed by the Indian External Ministry and, in response—no hard proof, no solid statement—just a 25% additional imposition of tariffs. Again.

Dead Economy?
Is the US trying to break the “dead” Indian economy? As per Donald Trump, the Indian economy is “dead,” but IMF reports say the Indian economy is going to grow by 6.4% in 2025, despite the tariffs imposed by the US.

America is indirectly helping Vietnam and China, as India remains the highest tariff-imposed country by the US as of now. Is the US trying to help India’s rival countries just to stop India’s growth? A strategic move by America’s mind to hinder India's growing economy?

If the US President knows that the Indian economy is “dead,” then why is he so eager to show interest—and trying to find great matches as their trade partners—now?

Answer from India’s External Affairs Ministry
The Indian External Affairs Ministry responded to it and said America is hindering their choice of interest. They are trying to impose their choices on us by targeting India's trade of crude oil with Russia.

Russia, Brazil & China back India

Russia and China backed India and called it unjustified and unreasonable. Russia stated that “Every country has a right to choose their trading partners, and no one can force them to cut their ties — and it’s not legal.”

The Chinese Embassy stated, “Foreign policy choices cannot be manipulated by other countries, no matter how significant their own ties with India are.” They further added, “India’s sovereignty is non-negotiable.”
