India received a huge boost ahead of the Adelaide Test match as batter Shubman Gill returned to practice on Friday, November 29. Gill, who had been out due to a thumb fracture, was spotted in the India nets at Canberra ahead of the tour game against Prime Minister’s XI.

India are set to play their second Test match against Australia in Adelaide. The team will take on Australia in a Pink Ball Test match - traditionally a big strength for Australia in the 5-match series. Shubman, who had not been in action due to his rehabilitation process was seen leaving the ball well in the nets.

Gill got hurt while fielding on the second day of the intra-squad match simulation ahead of the Perth Test. He was seen in considerable pain and immediately left the field for further scans. Media had learnt at the time that Gill had fractured his left thumb and had been ruled out of the opening game.

In case the batter does return to the playing XI, the visitors have to rejig their entire line-up. India captain Rohit Sharma is poised to return to the playing XI, which will displace KL Rahul from his spot. With Shubman Gill expected to return to the line-up, Rahul might have to drop further down the order, possibly at No.5 or No.6.

Apart from Gill, India captain Rohit Sharma was also spotted in the nets. The India captain had started his practice midway through the Perth Test match. He was seen in good touch on Friday.
