The third and final ODI between Bangladesh and Pakistan ended in a controversy with Shaheen Afridi swinging his bat in frustration after being stumped off the last delivery. Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson reportedly met with the ICC match referee Neeyamur Rashid after on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena allowed Bangladesh to take a review off what was the penultimate ball of the match.

With Pakistan needing 12 runs to win off two, Rishad Hossain, the bowler, spun the fifth delivery away from Afridi as the ball went down the leg side before Dharmasena signalled it as wide. Since the DRS cannot be taken to review a wide delivery, Bangladesh called for the review to check for LBW.

Pakistan though claim that Bangladesh only went upstairs after watching the replay of the delivery in question on the giant screen which is not permitted. Additionally, there was no timer on display either which led to doubts whether the DRS call was taken within the 15-second period.

“The Pakistan team management believe Bangladesh took the review after a replay of the delivery flashed up on the big screen, and as a result came up (to the referee) after the game and informed (him) about their observation," Cricbuzz quoted a source as saying.

“Pakistan felt Bangladesh were allowed to review outside the maximum 15 seconds (window) within which such a decision must be made," the source added.

DRS showed that as the ball passed Afridi’s bat, there as a spike suggesting it may have hit the toe-end. As a result, the on-field decision was overturned even though Bangladesh ended up losing a review too.

The delivery being adjudged as legal meant the fate of the contest was sealed with Pakistan needing 12 to win off one delivery. Afridi stepped out off the final ball and was stumped as Bangladesh clinched the match by 11 runs and won the series 2-1.

As per ESPNcricinfo, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants public acknowledgement of the error.
