On August 28, 2025, nearly three months after the tragic stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL 2025 title celebrations, the franchise broke its social media silence. The incident, which occurred on June 4, resulted in 11 fatalities and left over 50 injured .
In their first public statement since the tragedy, RCB expressed deep sorrow and condolences for the victims and their families. The team emphasized that their previous silence was not due to indifference but a mark of deep grief. In response to the tragedy, the franchise launched the 'RCB Cares' initiative, aiming to support affected families and focus on community welfare.
The Karnataka government has ordered an investigation into the incident, admitting that the event proceeded without proper planning and safety measures. A fire has been filed against RCB, the event organizer, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association for not following the necessary instructions .
Following the incident, RCB's social media handles went silent, leading to speculation about the franchise's response. However, the team's recent statement clarifies their position and outlines their commitment to supporting the affected individuals and the community .
The 'RCB Cares' initiative marks the team's effort to engage more actively in social responsibility and assure the public of their commitment to healing and support in the wake of the tragedy
RCB Admin says,
It's been close to three months since we last posted here.
The silence was an absence. It was a grief.
The space was once filled with energy memories and moments that you enjoyed the most… But June 4 changed everything.
That day broke our hearts and the silence since then has been our way of holding space.
In that silence we've been grieving. Listening. Learning. And slowly we have begun to build something more than just a response. Something we truly believe in.
That's how RCB cares come to life.It grew out of a need to honour, to heal and to stand beside our fans a platform for meaningful action shaped by our community and fans.
We return to the space today not with celebration but with care.
To share. To stand with you. To walk forward together. To continue being the pride of Karnataka.
Rcb cares. And we always will.
More details soon…
