The BCCI has reportedly circulated fresh set of instructions with the IPL team managers informing them of dos and don’ts to be followed on match eves and matchdays during the upcoming season. Notable among them is the instruction to players to travel in the team bus when coming for practice sessions. Families of players need to travel in different vehicles and can watch the training from the hospitality area.
Players have also been told to not wear “floppies and sleeveless jerseys" during the post-match presentations and failure to do so will result in warning on the first instance and financial penalty on the second.
Players have been requested to wear orange and purple caps. Those who don’t wear caps, have been requested to do so for the first two overs till “broadcast captures it".
For the nets sessions, BCCI has shared the following guidelines:
Each team will get two nets in the practice area plus one side wicket on the main square for range hitting.
For practice at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, should both teams be practising at the same time, they will get two wickets each.
If one team ends up finishing practice earlier, the other team cannot use that wicket for their own practice.
No open nets.
Practice won’t be allowed on match days.
No fitness test to be conducted on the main square on match days.
If there’s a change in jersey number, it has to be informed 24 hours in advance.
The IPL recently released schedule for its first 20 matches to be played from March 28 to April 12. The full fixtures will be announced in the coming days after dates for assembly polls in various states will be confirmed.
The season will get underway later this week when defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru host Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
