The Trinamool Congress has announced its support for the Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday. Thanking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Kejriwal said, "Thank you Didi", adding that she has always supported AAP.
The former Delhi chief minister said in a post on X, "TMC has announced support to AAP in Delhi elections. I am personally grateful to Mamta Didi. Thank you Didi. U have always supported and blessed us in our good and bad times."
Trinamool joined the list of INDIA bloc allies that have vowed support to the AAP in the Delhi elections. Before this, the Samajwadi Party and Shiv Sena (UBT) had also extended support to Kejriwal's party.
Notably, the AAP has opted to contest the upcoming Assembly elections alone after having stitched an alliance with the Congress for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The ruling AAP swept the 2015 and 2020 elections with 67 and 62 seats, respectively, and is aiming for a hat-trick in the capital.
Polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held on February 5 and the votes counted on February 8.
