Tej Pratap Yadav, who was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) more than a month ago, has removed the party flag from his car. The same was noticed after the former Bihar minister and MLA reached his former constituency Mahua for a roadshow.
Surrounded by a sea of supporters, Tej Pratap and others at the scene were seen carrying a green-and-white flag with ‘Team Tej Pratap Yadav’ written on it, thus floating speculations that he might contest the upcoming Assembly elections alone.
Following his roadshow, Tej Pratap Yadav also inspected the construction work at the Mahua Medical College and interacted with the public.
On being questioned about the change of flag, Yadav said, “I came to see the medical college in Mahua. We had promised during the elections that we would give a medical college, and now it’s ready. I fulfil whatever promise I make."
On a question of contesting elections, he said, “The constituency I contest from will depend on the people’s demand. Whether I contest on a party ticket or not is a matter to be decided later."
Earlier too, reports had suggested Tej Pratap could float a new political party, especially with the RJD shutting its doors on him.
Tej Pratap was expelled from the RJD and family for six years by Lalu Yadav after he publicly announced his relationship with Anushka Yadav in May 2025.
His brother Tejashwi Yadav, often seen as the face of the RJD, had publicly backed their father’s decision, further fueling speculation about possible shifts in the political landscape.
Tej Pratap’s visit to Mahua is being seen as an attempt to prepare his own political ground ahead of the 2025 assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the RJD is preparing to take on Nitish Kumar’s NDA in the 2025 elections.
