The family of the 17-year-old, who has been accused of running his Porsche car over two people in Pune, allegedly has an underworld connection. Surendra Kumar Agarwal, the grandfather of the accused, is reportedly facing trial in a shootout case for allegedly making payments to gangster Chhota Rajan.

The teenager, who allegedly crashed his Porsche into a motorbike killing two software engineers at Kalyani Nagar in Maharashtra's Pune on Sunday, is the son of now-arrested real estate developer Vishal Agarwal. The boy, who was drunk at the time of accident, was granted bail by Juvenile Justice Board on a surety of Rs 7,500 and an assurance from his grandfather to keep him away from bad company, as per the order.

According to sources within the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), SK Agarwal is implicated in a case involving a property dispute with his brother, RK Agarwal, which allegedly led to collaboration with Chhota Rajan's criminal network. The incident reportedly involved an attempt on the life of Ajay Bhosale, a friend of RK Agarwal, resulting in injuries to Ajay Bhosale's driver.

The incident was initially registered at Bund Garden police station in Pune, implicating SK Agarwal and Chhota Rajan for conspiracy to commit murder. It is alleged that SK Agarwal even traveled to Bangkok to meet with Chhota Rajan's henchman, Vijay Purushottam Salvi alias Vijay Tambat, in an attempt to settle the property dispute.

All cases related to Chhota Rajan have been consolidated and are being investigated by the CBI, with a special trial court in Mumbai designated to hear them. SK Agarwal's case from Pune is among those being tried alongside Rajan since 2021.

Despite the involvement of organized crime elements, such as Chhota Rajan and his associates, it's been noted with surprise that the Pune police did not invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in this case. Investigators allege that serious lapses may have occurred intentionally on the part of the Pune police during the initial investigation.

Investigators stated that SK Agarwal was never arrested till the filing of the chargesheet and the case was registered under the ordinary sections of Indian Penal Code. The case against him involves charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act.

SK Agarwal, who is currently out on bail, attended a trial hearing on May 6, where evidence from key witnesses was presented.
