Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi on Thursday evening to launch several development projects on Friday and to participate in other programmes.

Upon his arrival, he inspected the Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara Marg along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath late Thursday night.

Built for Rs 360 crore, the road is reducing traffic congestion by cutting travelling time from BHU towards the airport from 75 minutes to 45 minutes. Similarly, it is reducing the distance from Lahartara to Kachahri from 30 mins to 15 mins.

Informing about his visit, PM Modi wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), "Upon landing in Kashi, inspected the Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara Marg. This project was inaugurated recently and has been greatly helpful to people in the southern part of the city".

According to an official statement by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), PM Modi will perform a 'pooja' and have a 'darshan' at the Sant Guru Ravidas Janmasthali on Friday before attending a function at 11:30 am to commemorate the 647th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas.

He will attend a public function where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth more than Rs 13,000 crore in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency.
