Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has confirmed his decision to seek a seat in the Rajya Sabha, sharing an emotional message addressed to the people of Bihar ahead of filing his nomination.
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Kumar thanked the citizens of Bihar for standing by him throughout his political journey. Reflecting on decades of public life, he said the people’s trust and support had allowed him to serve the state with dedication for more than two decades.
In the message, Kumar revealed that joining the Rajya Sabha had been a long-standing aspiration. He noted that since the beginning of his parliamentary career, he had always hoped to become a member of both Houses of the Bihar Legislature as well as both Houses of Parliament.
By contesting the Rajya Sabha election, Kumar aims to fulfill that personal political milestone—something he described as a dream he had carried since entering public life.
In his note to voters, Kumar expressed deep gratitude to the people of Bihar, acknowledging their consistent support across elections and political shifts. He said their faith enabled him to work for the state’s development for over twenty years.
