Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday released his party's manifesto, ahead of the Lok Sabha election, promising statehood for Puducherry, a ban on NEET exams, and more. MP and Stalin's sister Kanimozhi was among other party leaders present at the event in Chennai.

Additionally, the party also announced a list of candidates for the party to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the gathering after releasing the party manifesto, Chief Minister Stalin said, "It is the DMK which makes the manifesto before elections and continues to do what we say, this is what our leaders taught us. Schemes that were implemented under the Dravidian model for the betterment of Tamil Nadu will be taken across India."

Also praising his sister, Kanimozhi, MK Stalin said, "Kanimozhi has created a wonderful manifesto concentrating on schemes for each district." He also highlighted the prominent ones as -

  • The Indian Constitution will be altered to provide federal rights to the states

  • A Supreme Court branch in Chennai

  • Statehood for Puducherry

  • National Education Policy (NEP) will be withdrawn

  • Thirty-three per cent reservation for women will be implemented

  • Morning meal scheme for government schools

  • NEET will be banned

  • Rs 1,000 for women every month across India

  • Toll gates will be removed

  • Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) will removed

  • Action will be taken to suspend student education loans

  • Article 361, providing power to the Governor, will be repealed

  • New IIT, IIM, IISc, and IIARI will be created

Speaking further, Stalin said, "As Kanimozhi said, we went all over the state and listened to various people. It is not only a DMK manifesto but the people's manifesto."

"When the BJP came to power in 2014, they destroyed India. None of the election promises were fulfilled. We have formed the INDIA alliance, and we will form our government in 2024.''

"In our manifesto, we have announced special schemes for Tamil Nadu and schemes for every district are given in this manifesto," he added.

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin said, "I would have been happy if PM Modi had come during the time of floods in Tamil Nadu."

Later, speaking to the media on the party's manifesto, DK MP Kanimozhi said, "The main focus was on what the Union Government can do, and we tried to reach all the sectors. Trying to have a good and a stable government, I think the numbers will be adequate."
