The Mumbai Police is on high alert after a message threatening an attack on the Chief Minister's office was received on WhatsApp from a Pakistani number, officials said.

A case has been registered, and an investigation has been launched after a sender identifying himself as 'Malik Shahbaz Humayun Raja Dev' sent the message to the Mumbai Traffic Police via WhatsApp.

The message was sent from an unknown number, triggering an alert among the police and intelligence agencies.

The Mumbai Police are currently investigating the matter.

Last week, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ekhnath Shinde also received a death threat. In a threat email sent to Mumbai's Goregaon police, an unidentified person warned that Shinde's vehicle would be blown up with a bomb.

The state secretariat and the JJ Marg police station also received similar threat messages. After probing the threat message sent to Shinde, the Mumbai Police suggested that it was a hoax email.
