A doctor said the post-mortem report of the 31-year-old woman murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital suggested that she was gangraped. In an interview with India Today, Dr Subarna Goswami said the nature of injuries inflicted on the trainee doctor cannot be the handiwork of one person.
Dr Goswami said the post-mortem report mentioned 151 gm of liquid from the vaginal swab. "That quantity cannot be of one person. It suggests the involvement of multiple people," Dr Goswami, who is also the additional general secretary of the All India Federation of Govt Doctors' Association, said.
The doctor said even the family of the victim suspected the role of multiple people behind the brutal incident, which has triggered nationwide outrage and protests by doctors in several states.
"The nature of injuries and force used cannot be the handiwork of one person," Dr Goswami further said.
The body of the post-graduate trainee was found in the seminar room of the West Bengal government-run hospital on Friday morning in a semi-naked condition. A civic volunteer with Kolkata Police, Sanjoy Roy, has been arrested in connection with the case.

The post-mortem report revealed that the trainee doctor was throttled before being smothered to death. Her thyroid cartilage was broken due to strangling and a deep wound was found in her private parts, the report said.
The four-page report said the wounds in her private parts were caused by "perverted sexuality" and "genital torture".
Moreover, injuries were also found on her belly, lips, fingers, and left leg. The report also mentioned that the woman was bleeding from both eyes and her mouth.
Citing the report, sources said the doctor's nose and mouth were clamped, and her head was pushed against a wall to prevent her from screaming. Scratch marks were also found on the woman's face.
"The mouth and throat were constantly pressed to prevent screaming. The throat was strangled to suffocate. The thyroid cartilage broke due to strangling," the post-mortem report said.
The family members of the trainee doctor also revealed the horrific condition in which her body was found. "Her legs were 90 degrees apart... this cannot happen unless the pelvic girdle breaks, which means she was torn apart," a relative said.
"Her specs were broken and there were shards of glass in her eyes. She was choked to death," the relative further said.
