The Supreme Court today came down heavily on Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi for not allowing the appointment of DMK leader K Ponmudi as a minister in the state’s Cabinet despite a pause on his conviction.
"What are you doing? The conviction is stated by the Supreme Court. Why can’t he be sworn in? Please tell your governor, otherwise we will have to take a serious view on it," the Supreme Court said.
"We are seriously concerned about the conduct of the governor in this case. He is defying the Supreme Court of India," said Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.
