According to the police official, forces have established contact with the terrorists, and additional forces have been rushed to the spot.

Forces have carried out a number of counter-terror operations in south Kashmir since morning. They foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC in Uri Nala.

Defence sources told media that an intelligence assessment indicates the presence of 42 terror launchpads across the LoC, with around 110 to 130 militants currently stationed in them. Of these, 10 launchpads are located opposite sectors along Kashmir, while 32 are opposite the SPPR region.

Security forces, meanwhile, detained more than 250 people from south Kashmir for questioning, while police sources said more than 1,500 overground workers and people with a record of being involved in terror activities and those with FIRs registered against them have been detained across Kashmir Valley.

On Tuesday afternoon (April 22), a group of terrorists gunned down male tourists milling around eateries, taking pony rides or just picnicking with their families at the Baisaran valley’s lush green meadows, often touted as ‘Mini Switzerland’ for its serene beauty.

The terrorists targeted mostly tourists from different parts of the country. The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow outfit of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to officials, three men suspected to be involved in the gruesome attack were identified as Pakistanis – Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah and Abu Talha.
