Slamming the RJD for propagating “jungle raj" politics that he said the people of Bihar will never forget, Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that the upcoming election is all about writing a new chapter in the state’s history.
Addressing BJP workers at a booth sammelan in poll-bound Bihar on Thursday, Modi said the youth will play a key role in this “new chapter". He said he is confident that the people will choose the “double-engine" government of the NDA once again.
“This election is about writing a new chapter in the history of Bihar, youth will play a key role," Modi said during the ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot’ programme, asking BJP workers to ensure the elderly educate the youth about the atrocities during ‘jungle raj’ in Bihar. “People will not forget for another 100 years the ‘jungle raj’ in Bihar, no matter how much the opposition tries to hide their misdeeds."
Modi said Naxal terror played a big role in destroying Bihar, and the previous RJD government took advantage of this. He said they do not care about the youth of Bihar and, for decades, the young people of the state suffered from Naxal terror.
“But, these people prioritised their (RJD) own self-interest over you. Maoists would not allow the opening of schools, colleges, hospitals, or anything else, and they would destroy established institutions with bombs. They would not allow industries to enter. Therefore, during their (RJD) rule, development was completely ruined. I admit that they (RJD) have ruined the future of two generations of Bihar," he said. “Those who call themselves Mahagathbandhan, the people of Bihar call them a ‘lathbandhan’. They only know how to wield lathis and fight. For them, their own self-interest is above all."
He said the NDA has worked hard to bring Bihar out of the “darkness of jungle raj and into the new light of development". He said the state is no longer wilting under ‘jungle raj’, but rapidly moving ahead with the promise of “jan vishwas“.
The Prime Minister said the NDA is committed to fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of the youth of Bihar and, through this interaction, the government is enthusiastically engaging in dialogue with them. He appealed to the youth to visit every household and urge voters to exercise their franchise.
“Securing the future of Bihar’s youth is our duty, and we are working for it with complete sincerity. No one understands better the power of people’s vote than the brothers and sisters of Bihar. A new era in women’s empowerment will begin in Bihar on November 14 when NDA is voted back to power," he said.
He congratulated all BJP workers on the occasion of Bhai Dooj and the upcoming festival of Chhath Puja. “To my young friends in Bihar, heartfelt greetings to all of you on the festival of Bhai Dooj…amid the festive fervour, preparations for the worship of Chhathi Maiya are also in full swing. Along with all this, Bihar is also celebrating the grand festival of democracy," he said.
