Sonam Raghuvanshi, accused of killing her husband Raja Raghuvanshi on their honeymoon in Meghalaya, had plotted his murder along with her lover three days after their marriage, sources told media.

In her chat with her lover, Raj Kushwaha, Sonam told him that she did not like her husband getting intimate with her, according to sources.

Sonam, who surrendered in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur on Monday after being on the run for days following her husband's murder, told her lover she had distanced herself from Raja even before their marriage.

She also told Raj in chat about planning to kill her husband three days after their marriage, sources said.

The accused deliberately chose a far-off location to kill Raja, they added.

ABOUT THE CASE

Sonam, who got married to Raja in Indore on May 10 and reached Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 21, surrendered in Ghazipur early on Monday days after her husband died.

Raja was found dead in a deep gorge in a hilly forest area near Cherrapunji, as the local police and authorities launched search operations to trace the couple, who were earlier reported to be "missing".

After the discovery of Raja's body, the Shillong police said he might have been murdered, ruling out speculation that he met with an accident or fell victim to any other unfortunate incident.

After she surrendered to the Uttar Pradesh Police, Sonam confessed that she allegedly hired contract killers to eliminate Raja. Four men, including Raj, with whom the woman had an affair, were arrested for allegedly killing her husband.

Apart from Kushwaha, the other three men arrested for allegedly killing Raja were identified as Aakash Rajpoot, Vikas alias Vicky and Anand.

An autopsy report on Monday confirmed multiple sharp injuries to Raja's body, with two major wounds - one on the front of his head and another on the back.
