

The Delhi government on Thursday inspected 47 sites across the national capital, while the MCD demolished 15 properties and sealed six establishments as part of its ongoing crackdown on illegal constructions and violations of building bye-laws, officials said.
According to the Delhi government's Revenue Department, 607 sites were inspected between June 5 and June 10.
On Thursday, 47 sites were inspected, taking the cumulative number of sites checked during the period to 654. Following the inspections, restraining orders were issued in the North district.
Meanwhile, in the Outer North district, the demolition drive continued, and cases were forwarded to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Fire Department for further action in accordance with law.
A show-cause notice was issued in the North East district, while inspections and a show-cause notice were carried out in the South district. Similar notices were also issued in the Central and West districts.
The civic body also issued 61 show-cause notices for unauthorised constructions, eight sealing notices and 16 demolition orders during the day, officials said.
Officials said the MCD demolished 179 properties and sealed 206 others between June 1 and June 11. During the same period, it issued 252 show-cause notices for unauthorised constructions, 111 sealing notices and 82 demolition orders.
The enforcement drive follows a series of incidents linked to civic infrastructure lapses, violations of fire safety norms and alleged corruption.
Late last month, six people died after a three-storey commercial building collapsed in Malviya Nagar. Following the incident, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta promised action against unauthorised construction and officials responsible for approving such structures.
On June 3, when a fire at a five-storey Bed & Breakfast in Hauz Rani claimed 23 lives, including foreign nationals from Nigeria, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Congo, Mozambique and Liberia.
The drive is being carried out across the city to curb illegal construction and ensure compliance with building regulations and safety norms, with authorities asserting that strict action against violators will continue.
