Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025 Live Updates: The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 broke the turnout record since 1951. The voter turnout of 66.91% recorded in the two-phase elections, which ended on November 11, is the highest ever in the state. Bihar also recorded the highest women voter turnout in its history. While 71.6% women came out to vote, the men were far behind at 62.8%. As many as 8.5 lakh polling staffers, along with 1.4 lakh polling agents of the 2,616 contesting candidates, managed the elections. Apart from them 243 general observers, 38 police observers, and 67 expenditure observers oversaw the conduct of the elections. This was also the first time that Bihar hosted 16 delegates as observers from six countries. The counting of votes began at 8 AM today.

The Bihar Assembly Election Results will reflect a fierce contest, essentially between the ruling and Opposition coalitions — the JD(U)-led NDA and the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party claims that it has emerged as an alternative option for voters. However, all exit polls point at the elections going the NDA’s way, with the Jan Suraaj getting little to no leeway in the surve. With the exit polls writing off the Mahagathbandhan, its CM face Tejashwi Yadav  alleged that the pollsters followed the BJP’s directions to pressure Election Commission of India (ECI) officials to turn the results in the NDA’s favour. While the NDA is confident of a win with over 200 seats, the Mahagathbandhan has said Tejashwi Yadav will break Nitish Kumar’s streak and take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar.

The run up to the Bihar elections saw some acrid mudslinging by both the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. From poor governance and safeguarding criminals to personal attacks — the Bihar elections saw it all. Jibes were hurled at politicos over Chhath Puja, families, corruption, and ‘jungle raj’. The months to the Bihar elections saw a number of high-profile murders, including those of policemen, businessmen, and even an NRI. While the Mahgathbandhan pounced on the opportunity to point out that this was ‘jungle raj’, the NDA said the ‘real jungle raj’ was during the Lalu Yadav-Rabri Devi era. The Bihar Assembly Election Results today will reveal whether voters will retain Nitish Kumar with his reputation of switching alliances to stay in power, or will it give a chance to the Yadav family scion.

The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 saw a record turnout of 66.91%, with women leading the attendance figures. There were a total of 7.45 crore eligible voters this year. Nitish Kumar is also eyeing a 10th term on the Chief Minister’s chair. However, his former Deputy, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, is looking to wrest power from the NDA and assume the CM’s post. Most exit polls predicted a win for the NDA, though.

Ahead of the counting of votes for the Bihar Elections 2025, Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav has claimed the BJP cannot win any election without “lying, money power, theft”. He alleged: “The BJP tried its best to ensure that a BJP government is formed instead of the Nitish government…Women, youth voted in favour of the Opposition.”

Bihar Minister and BJP candidate from Bankipur Nitin Nabin says, “We are all confident that this time, the NDA seat tally will be near that of the 2010 elections. NDA is going to form the Government…We will get 200+ seats… They [RJD] are still not able to let go of their mindset of ‘jungle raj’. RJD is the symbol of ‘jungle raj’.”

Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025: Ahead of the vote counting, slated to begin at 8 AM today, Gaya SSP Anand Kumar details the security preparations. “Every strong room has three-layer security. Along with that, all the entrances and all the sensitive areas around them are under full surveillance. Across the entire city and nearby areas, there are 10 motorcycle QRTs, with around 200 personnel continuously patrolling. Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025 Live Updates: As per the early trends, of postal ballots counting has given the BJP reason to keep its chin up as Samrat Chaudharyleads in Tarapur and Maithili Thakur surges ahead in Alinagar.

Bihar Election Results: After trailing initially, Tej Pratap has moved ahead in Mahua. Hindustan Awam Morcha leader Deepa Kumari has maintained her lead in Imamganj from the start, as per NDTV. Tejashwi maintains a comfortable lead in Raghopur.

As per the early trends, NDA leads on 85 seats; Mahagathbandhan on 57. Figures as of 8:55 am.

As per the ECI, the NDA is leading on 5 seats and the Mahagathbandhan in 2 constituencies at 9:03 AM.

The counting of votes for bypolls in 8 assembly constituencies in six states and 1 Union Territory is also underway. In Nagrota (J&K) Assembly by-election, BJP’s Devyani Rana is leading over Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party (India)’s Harsh Dev Singh with a margin of 1,111 votes after counting round 1/11.

In Dampa (Mizoram), Mizo National Front’s R Lalthangliana is leading over Zoram People’s Movement candidate Vanlalsailova by 170 votes after 1/5 round of counting.

In Punjab’s Tarn Taran, Shiromani Akali Dal Leader Sukhwinder Kaur is ahead of Aam Aadmi Party’s Harmeet Singh Sandhu by 1,480 votes after 2/16 rounds of counting.

The ECI Vote-counting trends for 35 seats are out. Check out the table below for the leads by various parties at 9:20 AM. ECI data shows an NDA ahead in 28 seats and the Mahagathbandhan leading on 7 seats in Bihar.

At 9:30 AM, early trends of vote counting showed the NDA cross the majority mark, as per NDTV. The NDA was ahead on 146 seats, and the Mahagathbandhan on 73. JD-U’s Anant Singh is still leading in Mokama, while BJP’s Mangal Pandey is trailing in Siwan.

Mohammad Shahabuddin’s son and RJD candidate Osama Shahab is leading in Raghunathpur.

Bihar minister and BJP leader Nitin Nabin is leading in the 1/31 round of vote counting, while the party’s Renu Devi is leading in Bettiah after the first round, as per the ECI.

Mayawati’s BSP has lead in only one seat. Satish Kumar Singh Yadav is leading in Ramgarh by a margin of 1,354 in 2/26 round of counting.

In the alliance battle in Raghopur, an intense face-off is playing out. At Round 5 of counting, Satish Kumar of the Bharatiya Janata Party has taken a narrow lead of 20,158 votes (up +106) over Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal who is trailing with 20,052 votes (-106). The seat, historically a stronghold of the Yadav family and RJD dominance, including wins in 2015 and 2020 by Tejashwi, is witnessing an unexpectedly close contest, raising the stakes for both the ruling and opposition alliances.

Mokama Assembly Election Results 2025 Live Updates: The counting of votes for Mokama Assembly constituency in Bihar, which voted on November 6, 2025, in the first phase of the state elections and recorded a 64% voter turnout, is underway. Prashant Kishor’s much-hyped political debut with the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) appears to have largely fallen flat in the high-stakes Bihar Assembly elections. Current counting trends show the party struggling to make any impact, remaining without a seat, as the NDA takes a massive lead.

Positioned as a revolutionary third alternative to the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Mahagathbandhan, the JSP initially led in two constituencies before sliding back to zero, closely aligning with the near-unanimous predictions of major exit polls.

BJP workers bring a chariot with PM Modi’s face on it, as their celebrations continue in Patna. NDA has crossed the majority mark; BJP has emerged as the single largest party with a lead on 87 seats.

Singer and BJP candidate Maithili Thakur, who is leading from Alinagar, said, “I am very happy that people have shown trust in me. This is not just my victory. This victory is theirs too. The work that Nitish Kumar has done for women has helped me a lot in my journey. People have a lot of love for PM Modi, and they have a lot of faith in the NDA. It (Alinagar) will become Sitanagar for sure.”

In a closely watched contest, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is reported to be trailing in his stronghold constituency of Raghopur against BJP’s Satish Kumar Yadav.

As the counting of votes continues across Bihar, trends indicate that the NDA has crossed the majority mark while the INDIA bloc slips behind. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the BJP headquarters at around 7 PM.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav posted on X, “The game that SIR has played in Bihar will not be possible now in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, UP, and other places because this electoral conspiracy has now been exposed. From now on, we will not let them play this game. Like CCTV, our ‘PPTV’ meaning ‘PDA Sentinel’ will stay vigilant and thwart the BJP’s schemes. BJP is not a party; it is deceit.”

As the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) surged past the 200-seat mark in the latest trends of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the Janata Dal (United) on Friday highlighted the role of women voters in the mandate.

In a post on X, JDU wrote, “The trust of Bihar’s women has triumphed.. The NDA has triumphed, Bihar has triumphed..(Jeeta hai Bihar ki mahilao ka vishwaas… jeeta hai NDA, jeeta hai Bihar).”

As NDA crosses the majority mark in Bihar, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “The way people of Bihar have given support to the NDA is historic. The people of Bihar have shown their support for the development done by the double-engine government… The work done under the leadership of PM Modi and Nitish Kumar has been successful in the last 10 years, and the public has made us victorious. I want to thank the people of Bihar for this.”

Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha said,”I want to tell Tejashwi Yadav that if he wants to come to power in the next 10 or 20 years, he will have to change his pattern. He and his people’s behavior will have to change. SIR wasn’t an issue at all. They should be aware of the ground reality.”

“The people of Bihar have rejected them, and they have created such a face in Bihar that they were bound to be rejected by the people of Bihar. By making statements that the public hates, the opposition, the RJD, wants to deceive the public. They cannot deceive the people of Bihar in that way. On one hand, our government is doing so much good work, and on the other hand, these people want to come to power by making baseless statements and inciting public sentiment. This is not possible,” he added.

As the NDA takes a significant lead in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, celebrations have begun at the BJP headquarters, where makhana (fox nut) kheer is being distributed to party workers and supporters.

Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi hailed NDA’s grand win in Bihar Assembly Elections and said,”We had expected such results. Nitish Kumar has worked for women’s empowerment… We were saying above 160, but today the result is above 200. There is faith in Nitish Kumar among the people… This is why the people of Bihar have faith that work is being done in Bihar… The people of Bihar have acted very wisely… We have started many works here in the form of MSME…”

Speaking to media, Chirag Paswan said that the credit for NDA’s win in the state goes to PM Modi.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the NDA’s sweeping victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections as a triumph of good governance, development, public welfare, and social justice. Expressing deep gratitude to the people of Bihar for the historic mandate, he praised NDA workers for their tireless efforts in taking the development agenda to the masses and countering opposition narratives. Modi added that the resounding public support will strengthen the alliance’s resolve to accelerate Bihar’s development, enhance its infrastructure and cultural identity, and create greater opportunities for the state’s youth and women.

PM Modi said during his address, taking a dig at the Opposition, “How can those who call Chhath Puja as ‘drama’ respect traditions of Bihar?”

PM Modi said, “Total MLAs of Congress elected in last six elections is less than our MLAs elected today itself.” He added, “Congress has not returned to power in several states for decades; it has won 100 seats in six assembly polls post 2024.”

PM Modi said, taking a jibe at Congress party, “Congress has no positive vision for the country; it has become ‘Muslimleegi Maowadi Congress’. I think Congress will witness a big split soon, some ‘naamdars’ within party are drowning everyone with them.”

Senior BJP leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe on Friday said the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) sweeping victory in the Bihar assembly polls reflected a mandate for good governance as voters did not want a return of “Rashtriya Janata Dal’s jungle raj”.

The Bihar assembly election result is beyond expectations, he added.

“The state’s voters have rejected the electoral assessments of all political pundits. This election saw a pro-incumbency wave and it is a victory of good governance,” Sahasrabuddhe told PTI.

Osama Shahab, son of deceased gangster-turned-politician Mohammad Shahabuddin, who was a several-term MP from Siwan, won from the Raghunathpur assembly seat in Bihar.

According to the EC website, RJD candidate Osama Shahab defeated his nearest rival, Vikas Kumar Singh of the JD(U), by a margin of 9,248 votes. Shahab bagged 88,278 votes, while Singh secured 79,030 votes.

Top NDA leaders had criticised the RJD’s move to field Osama in the assembly polls and alleged that the decision to nominate him indicated the “return of jungle raj”. (PTI)

The Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM won five seats in the Bihar assembly polls on Friday, according to the Election Commission.

The party, which wields considerable influence in the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region, contested 29 of the 243 assembly seats. Twenty-four of the seats it contested are in the Seemanchal region.

AIMIM’s Akhtarul Iman won from the Amour seat by 38,928 votes. He polled 1,00,836 votes.

Md Sarawar Alam bagged Kochadhaman by 23,021 votes, polling a total of 81,860 votes.

Ghulam Sarwar secured the Baisi seat by 27,251 votes, polling a total of 92,766 votes. Mohammad Murshid Alam won Jokihat by 28,803 votes, polling 83,737 votes. (PTI)

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called the Bihar election results “truly surprising”.

“We could not achieve victory in an election that was not fair from the very beginning,” he said, reacting to the party’s rout in the Assembly polls where it has managed to win only six seats.

Rahul Gandhi posted on X, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to those millions of voters in Bihar who expressed their trust in the Mahagathbandhan. This result in Bihar is truly surprising. We could not achieve victory in an election that was not fair from the very beginning. This fight is for the protection of the Constitution and democracy. The Congress Party and the INDIA alliance will deeply review this result and make their efforts to save democracy even more effective.”

Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Bandyopadhyay on Friday said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should be the “face” of the INDIA bloc to counter the BJP nationally.

Asserting that the TMC under Banerjee’s leadership would win the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections with an absolute majority, Bandyopadhyay dismissed suggestions that the BJP’s strong performance in neighbouring Bihar could translate into gains in Bengal.

“BJP has good organisational strength in Bihar and the Congress failed to match them, which was reflected in the vote results. Mark my words, TMC will romp home with an absolute majority under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee in the 2026 polls,” he told PTI.

Asked if Banerjee should lead the INDIA bloc in the wake of electoral Congress’ electoral reverses, Bandyopadhyay said, “Yes, Didi should be the face of the non-BJP front to fight the communal, divisive, dictatorial and undemocratic politics of the BJP. She is the one who can repulse the BJP challenge and carry on the fight successfully in the country.” (PTI)
