
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday announced his government's plan to implement work from home policies in “a big way” under the Information Technology (IT) and Global Capability Centers (GCCs) policy 4.0. The announcement comes amid the ongoing debate over 90-hour workweek.
The Chief Minister, sharing details on his social media handles, said the initiative can help strike a better work-life balance.
Extending his “greetings to all women and girls in STEM” on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, he announced his government’s commitment to providing equal access to growth opportunities in STEM fields. Through this initiative, Andhra Pradesh aims to drive meaningful change, ensuring a more inclusive and sustainable work environment.
“Today, we celebrate their achievements and commit ourselves to providing them equal and full access to growth opportunities in these fields,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the state is set to implement a large-scale work from home (WFH) initiative, particularly aimed at benefiting women professionals. His long post signalled an inclusive approach that encouraged women to pursue careers in IT, engineering, and technology.
“Concepts such as remote work, coworking spaces (CWS), and neighbourhood workspaces (NWS) can empower businesses and employees alike to create flexible, productive work environments,” chief minister Naidu said.
“Such initiatives can help us strike a better work-life balance as well. We plan to harness these trends to drive meaningful change in AP. The Andhra Pradesh IT & GCC Policy 4.0 is a game-changing step in that direction. We're offering incentives for developers to create IT office spaces in every city/town/mandal and supporting IT/GCC firms to generate employment at the grassroots,” he added.

It offers incentives for developers to establish IT office spaces in cities, towns, and mandals. Additionally, IT and GCC firms will receive support to generate employment at the grassroots level.
This initiative is expected to encourage greater workforce participation among women by offering flexible hybrid and remote work options. With better work-life balance and reduced commuting challenges, women professionals will have enhanced career opportunities.
