As the country grapples with an extreme heatwave, online food delivery platform Zomato has made an unusual request to its customers. On Sunday, Zomato posted on X, advising people to avoid placing orders during peak afternoon hours unless absolutely necessary.

"Please avoid ordering during peak afternoon unless absolutely necessary," Zomato wrote.

The post has sparked mixed reactions. Some customers appreciated the considerate gesture, acknowledging the challenging conditions for delivery personnel. However, others were puzzled by the request, especially coming from a food delivery service. Concerns were raised about the inconvenience this might cause, particularly for individuals living alone who rely heavily on food delivery.

Meanwhile, Delhiites, who have endured a very dry May, can expect some relief as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain and thunderstorms for Sunday. This morning, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 30.4 degrees Celsius, which is 3.5 degrees above the seasonal average. The maximum temperature is anticipated to reach around 43 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday, Delhi experienced even higher temperatures, with the maximum soaring to 44.2 degrees Celsius, which is 4.2 degrees above the average for this time of year.
