In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old youth has been accused of killing his father and attempting to conceal the crime by cutting up the body and hiding it inside their home, reported media, citing police.
The victim, Manvendra Pratap Singh, who owned Vardhman Pathology, had been missing since February 20. A missing person complaint was filed soon after he could not be traced.
During the search, police recovered his decomposed remains from a drum kept inside the house.
As a part of the investigation, officers questioned his son, Akshat Pratap Singh, a B.Com student. He confessed to the crime during interrogation.
DCP Vikrant Veer said the accused told officials that he shot his father with a rifle at around 4.30 AM on February 20 after an argument. The son allegedly claimed he was upset because his father was pressuring him to prepare for competitive examinations.
Police said that after the shooting, the accused moved the body from the third floor to a room on the ground floor. He then allegedly cut the body into pieces in an attempt to hide the evidence. Some body parts were reportedly disposed of near Sadarouna village, while others were kept inside a drum at the house. During the search, officers recovered several remains from the ground floor.
A forensic team examined the crime scene and collected material evidence. The accused has been taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections of the law.
