New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday (February 21) released his statement on the ongoing Hijab controversy in Karnataka, according to him, a uniform dress code set by the schools should be followed by the students. Although, the BJP leader added that the court’s decision on the matter will be the last word and accepted by the country.Giving his opinion on the hijab demands, Shah said ultimately it has to be decided whether the country will function on the basis of the Constitution or whims.“It is my personal belief that people of all religions should accept the school's dress code. And the issue is now in court, and the court is conducting its hearings on the matter. Whatever it decides should be followed by all,” Shah said in an interview with Network18.As of now, the hijab issue in Karnataka had triggered a major controversy across the nation. The matter had its echo in the ongoing assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh too.Tensions continue to simmer in Shivamogga district of Karnataka with the death of 23-year-old office-bearer of the Bajarang Dal.So far five persons have been detained, as police identified two more persons in connection with the murder of a 28-year-old Bajrang Dal activist here, police sources said on Tuesday. Three people were already arrested in relation to the case and they are residents of this district headquarters town, they said.The mother of the deceased said that a few Muslim youngsters held a grudge against Harsha for working for cow protection, and there may be a plot behind his murder, she claimed.As of now, section 144 in and around educational institutions in the state has been extended till March 8.(With Inputs From Agencies)
