A heartbreaking incident has shaken a reputed private university in Greater Noida, where a 20-year-old student died by suicide inside the women’s hostel, reportedly due to prolonged mental harassment by faculty members.

The student, Jyoti Sharma, was in her second year of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program. She was originally from Gurugram and had been staying in the college hostel. According to police, the incident happened on Friday night and Jyoti left behind a suicide note blaming two of her teachers for her death.

In the note, Jyoti wrote that she had been suffering mentally for a long time due to the behavior of two specific faculty members who taught PCP and Dental Materials.
“They mentally harassed me and humiliated me. I can’t take it anymore,” she wrote in a deeply emotional note found in her hostel room. “I want them to suffer the same way I did. I’m sorry, I just can’t live like this anymore.”

As soon as the tragic news reached Jyoti's family in Gurugram, they rushed to the college. Police officers were present at the scene and ensured all legal formalities were carried out. A forensic team also examined the room and gathered evidence for further investigation.

Greater Noida Additional DCP Sudhir Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered at Knowledge Park Police Station based on a complaint by Jyoti’s family. He also stated that two staff members mentioned in the suicide note have been arrested and further investigation is in progress.

The university has not issued an official statement yet but sources suggest that the two accused faculty members have been suspended for now.

The incident sparked massive unrest among students. Many gathered outside the hostel late into the night, chanting slogans and demanding justice for Jyoti. They are asking for a fair and unbiased inquiry into the matter. “We want a proper investigation. This should not happen to anyone else,” said a protesting student.

This incident comes shortly after another shocking case in Odisha, where a girl student died after setting herself on fire, reportedly after facing sexual harassment by a teacher.
