Several traffic restrictions are set to be in place in the national capital on Monday due to football legend Lionel Messi’s event at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Anticipating a huge rush, authorities have announced traffic curbs in and around the stadium to manage the expected surge in movement.

Argentine soccer star Messi will begin the final leg of his GOAT India Tour in the national capital on Monday.

In an advisory released on Sunday, the Delhi Traffic Police said road diversions will be enforced on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and Jawaharlal Nehru Marg. Heavy vehicles will not be permitted on stretches from Daryaganj to Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and from Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road, it added.

In a post on X, traffic officials urged commuters to avoid JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg from noon to 5pm, warning of heavy congestion due to the star footballer’s visit.

Messi’s main public appearance in Delhi will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where he is scheduled to honour Minerva Academy’s teams following their success in three youth tournaments. Police have also released detailed entry and exit arrangements for ticket holders attending the event.
