A wedding ceremony turned chaotic in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district as two families clashed over a peculiar dispute – chicken fry. Yes, you read that right! Chicken fry became a centre of attraction as members of the groom's family complained of being served inadequate portions of the delicacy and not being served properly.
There was pandemonium during the nikah when guests from the groom's side claimed they were being served fewer pieces of chicken fry. To appease them, the bride's family brought them more pieces of chicken fry. But instead of content with the portion, the guests had another complaint – they were not being served politely.
Another round of arguments broke out between the families of the groom and the bride, which then literally turned into a battlefield. A video went viral on social media, showing the warring parties punching fists, shoving and hitting each other as several people rushed to separate them and defuse the situation.
The arguments and the subsequent fight resulted in the nikah being halted not only once, but thrice.
Eventually, the police arrived and managed to bring the situation under control. After the families of the groom and bride were pacified, the wedding was held peacefully under police protection.
As many as 15 people suffered injuries during the clashes, following which they were hospitalised and are reported to be recovering.
Locals say that a feast that should have been a symbol of joy was marred by unnecessary arrogance and a dispute over food.
