Several people were injured after a speeding Ferrari, driven by a businessman, lost control, veered onto the wrong side of the road and rammed multiple vehicles in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills on Sunday.
The impact was so severe that several cars and two-wheelers were badly damaged, while the luxury sports car also sustained extensive damage.
According to police, the accident occurred when the car, driven by businessman Kranti Reddy, reportedly suffered a brake failure and steering lock, leading to the loss of control.
The incident comes amid growing calls for stricter scrutiny and stronger enforcement against reckless driving and overspeeding, particularly following a series of recent crashes involving luxury and premium cars. In several such cases, minors were found to be behind the wheel.
Police said people travelling in the opposite direction sustained injuries in the collision and were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. The condition of the injured is said to be out of danger.
A light mast in the middle of the road was also damaged in the accident, toppling to one side after being hit by the car.
Police personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and began efforts to clear the road. Traffic in the area was severely affected, with vehicles diverted to ease congestion.
A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by one of the victims. Further details regarding the exact cause of the accident and the identities of the injured are awaited.
