
Shahzadi Khan, a 33-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh who had been on death row in the United Arab Emirates, was executed on February 15 in the Gulf nation, the government informed the Delhi High Court on Monday.
Shahzadi Khan was prosecuted for the death of a four-month-old child under her care. She was employed as a caregiver in Abu Dhabi when the incident occurred in December 2022. The child died after receiving routine vaccinations, and Shahzadi was accused of causing the death.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) apprised the court about the execution after Shahzadi's father approached the Delhi High Court on Saturday seeking a directive to government authorities to issue a bulletin and ascertain information regarding her condition.
According to the government, the woman from Uttar Pradesh's Banda district was executed on February 15, and her cremation is scheduled for March 5. The government informed the court that the External Affairs Ministry received the update on February 28.
