Section 144 on Valentine's Day in Noida; strict restrictions in view of festivities in Feb

The Gautam Budh Nagar police imposed restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC in the district including Noida and Greater Noida regions. The restrictions, which have been imposed in view of several upcoming festivities including Valentine's Day, will remain in force till February 28.

"In view of the upcoming festivals / Covid-19 protocol, prohibitory orders in the district under Section-144 CrPC are applicable from 04.02.2023 to 28.02.2023 in view of security. Action will be taken under Section-188 IPC for violation," the Gautam Budh Nagar police announced.

The prohibitory order issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police for Law and Order Anil Kumar Yadav mentions several festival days in February including valentine's day on February 14 and Mahashivratri on February 18.

"On these occasions, the chances of breach of peace by anti-social elements cannot be ruled out," the police said in its order. Section 144 prohibits the assembly of four or more people.

As per the order, loudspeakers and DJs will not be allowed to be played at religious places and clubs until February end. Consumption of alcohol in public places has also been prohibited. The Noida police will be conducting regular patrols during these days, the order stated.

The order further states that no procession will be allowed in the city and photography or flying drones near Government offices or residences in the district will be strictly restricted.

People will not be allowed to offer prayers in public. The public is also prohibited from walking around public places with a gun or knife and displaying them.

Violation of this order or any sub-section of it shall be an offence punishable under section 188 of the IPC, the police commissioner said. Anil Kumar Yadav directed all stations under the Gautam Buddha Nagar to ensure that the order is followed without fail.
