Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently interacting with the chief ministers of all states, except those going to polls, via video conferencing to review their preparedness and plans amid the ongoing war in West Asia.
A source earlier said the meeting will focus on ensuring coordination and synergy of efforts across states in the spirit of ‘Team India’.
Details of the meeting are yet to be made public and will be updated as information becomes available.
This is the first time the prime minister has held a meeting with the chief ministers specifically on the West Asia conflict, which began on February 28 when the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran. Tehran has since retaliated with strikes on Israel and several Gulf countries.
The chief ministers of states with upcoming elections are not participating in the meeting due to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
The meeting also comes following comments by the prime minister earlier on Monday in the Lok Sabha, where he said the difficult global conditions caused by the war in West Asia are likely to persist for some time. He had called upon the nation to remain prepared and united, just as it had stood together during the Covid-19 pandemic.
