New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the nation on Sunday evening, urged citizens to embrace the spirit of self-reliance and make Atmanirbhar Bharat a success by adopting and promoting Made-in-India products.
In his speech, the Prime Minister unveiled the slogan “Garv Se Kaho Ye Swadeshi Hai”, calling upon people to proudly use and promote indigenous goods. “The need of the hour is to go swadeshi. People should be proud to say that they use Indian-made products,” Modi said.
Swadeshi Push: PM Modi reiterated that India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation depends on strengthening its MSMEs and local industries.
Tax & GST Reforms:
Citizens are expected to save ₹2.5 lakh crore annually through a combination of income tax and GST reforms.
The no-income tax slab has been raised to ₹12 lakh per annum, a move Modi said benefits the middle class the most.
Under GST 2.0, 99% of daily-use goods for the middle class have been made cheaper.
The reforms, Modi asserted, will not only make household essentials more affordable but also simplify business operations and attract foreign direct investment (FDI).
Poverty Alleviation: PM Modi claimed that 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty under his government in the past 11 years.
GST Bachat Utsav: Modi announced that the GST Bachat Utsav will come into effect from September 22, giving consumers further relief.

Hailing GST 2.0 as “historic”, the Prime Minister said the reforms will accelerate India’s growth trajectory, strengthen the economy, and support states in their development race. He also slammed previous tax regimes, describing them as inefficient and burdensome.
“These reforms will fuel India’s growth story, make investments more attractive, and provide relief to both the poor and the middle class,” Modi added.
