Mumbai Police arrested an autorickshaw driver accused of raping a 20-year-old woman and inserting a surgical blade and stones in her private parts.
According to police, the woman, a resident of Nalasopara in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, was found late on Tuesday night near Ram Mandir railway station in Goregaon. She reportedly told police she had travelled to Mumbai by train earlier that day.
Police believe the auto driver raped the woman at Vasai beach. The woman subsequently made her way to the railway station, and contacted the authorities, alleging that the auto driver had assaulted her.
The woman was taken to a hospital for medical examination, which revealed foreign objects, including a surgical blade and stones, had been forcibly inserted into her private parts. Doctors successfully removed the items, and the woman is now receiving medical care.
Based on her complaint, a rape case was filed against the autorickshaw driver. After an intensive search, police arrested the suspect on Friday.
Further investigation is ongoing.
