A horrific act of violence unfolded in a village here on Friday when an obsessed, jilted lover brutally assaulted a 17-year-old girl with an axe, dragged her by her hair, and attempted to hang her from her roof in broad daylight.
The accused, identified as Dharmendra Parihar, forced his way into the minor’s home while she was alone. He launched a savage assault, striking her nearly 20 times on her face and head. He then dragged her by her hair to the roof, tied a rope around her neck, and attempted to hang her.
Graphic video footage of the incident captured the attacker attempting to suspend the heavily bleeding girl from the roof. However, the rope slipped from his hands, causing her to plunge to the ground below. Parihar then jumped down to approach her body.
Alerted by the teenager’s screams, neighbors rushed to the scene and discovered her lying in a pool of blood, critically injured but alive. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where her condition subsequently deteriorated. According to medical staff, she sustained multiple severe injuries and required numerous stitches to her face.
Villagers managed to overpower Parihar at the scene and handed him over to the police. Authorities have officially arrested the accused and registered a case invoking charges of attempted murder alongside other serious offenses.
According to the victim’s family, this was not an isolated incident. Relatives alleged that Parihar had been systematically stalking and troubling the teenager, noting that he had molested and harassed her just weeks prior. Despite these previous encounters, the harassment persisted, culminating in Friday’s near-fatal assault.
The brutality of the attack sparked widespread outrage, prompting relatives and local villagers to stage a massive protest. Demonstrators blocked a major highway for approximately seven hours, demanding strict legal action against the accused and his family, as well as the demolition of his house.
The blockade was eventually cleared after senior police officials arrived at the scene and assured the aggrieved community that the strictest possible legal measures would be taken against the perpetrator.
