The incident occurred as Bora joined students protesting against alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). Police detained the accused soon after the attack and launched an investigation.
Videos from the protest showed Bora with black ink splashed across her face, neck and clothes. Reacting to the incident, she alleged that "RSS-BJP goons" were behind the attack and said it would not deter the movement.
Sharing photographs on social media, Bora wrote, "For them ink is a tool to try to shame others, we will write the future with ink! I wear this ink with pride."
According to reports, the accused was taken into custody at the protest site. Initial reports indicate that he allegedly told police he targeted Bora because of her support for former JNU student leader Umar Khalid. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack.
The protest is part of a wider student movement demanding action over alleged paper leaks and irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the JPSC and JSSC.
