The Indian Navy will conduct a mega Operational Demonstration (Op Demo) as part of Navy Day 2024 celebrations off the coast of Puri, Odisha, to showcase its might and prowess.

President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest at the event hosted by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi on Wednesday.

Besides the President, the Odisha Governor, Chief Minister and other Union and State Ministers will also be present, along with military dignitaries.

This is the second time that the Indian Navy is organising a mega event, at a location other than a major naval station.

The Op Demo will see the participation of units with a combined 90,000 tonnes, with weapons and sensors having the capacity of neutralising any threat emanating from surface, sub-surface or air within a radius of 300 km.

Over 3,500 personnel will be manning the platforms at sea and 350 personnel will be involved in coordination ashore.

The Navy Day 2024 celebrations will demonstrate the Indian Navy's indigenous state-of-the art technology, taking forward the Centre's resolve of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and resolve to be the 'Preferred Security Partner and First Responder' in the Indian Ocean Region guided by the vision of Security and Growth for all in the Region (SAGAR).
