A 13-year-old girl died after jumping off the third floor of her school in Maharashtra’s Jalna on Friday morning. The incident is said to have taken place between 7.30 and 8 am, creating panic among students, staff, and residents. It is learnt that the teacher had called the teen’s parents regarding her studies the day she ended her life.

Sadar Police Inspector Sandeep Bharti stated that the police were informed around 8 am about the girl allegedly jumping from the top floor of the school. A police team quickly arrived at the scene to start preliminary investigations. The girl, a Class 7 student, was found in critical condition and taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

Inspector Bharti mentioned that the investigation was in its early stages, and various angles were being explored. He said, “This morning, between 7.30 and 8 o’clock, we received information that a 13-year-old schoolgirl jumped from the school roof and committed suicide. An inquiry is in progress. Right now, only preliminary findings are available, and it would be too early to draw any conclusions. Only after a complete investigation can something concrete be said," he told ANI.

Police are interviewing school authorities, classmates, and family members to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident. CCTV footage from the school premises is also being reviewed to establish the sequence of events. Officers noted that no suicide note has been found yet.

Local residents and parents have raised concerns about the increasing stress levels among students and have called for stronger emotional support systems in schools. The girl’s body has been sent for a post-mortem to confirm the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, Sadar Police Station has registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), and the investigation is underway.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over the school and the community, with authorities promising a thorough and transparent investigation.
